Since 1995, Walking on Wood craftsmen have designed and installed thousands of
custom-made parquet wood flooring for interior designers, architects, construction
companies and home owners. Based in the UK and Marbella, we specialise in bespoke,
hand-made, parquet wood flooring that are tailored to each client’s style, requirements
and budget. Walking on Wood’s floors are found in townhouses, country residences,
museums, hotels, restaurants and boutiques around the world. The photos galleries
– traditional, country, bespoke, exotic and contemporary - portray actual floors
designed and installed for clients, many of them high profile. The Timber Collection
illustrates timber and patterns in different colours, which have been developed
for clients over the years. They are constantly evolving as Walking on Wood continues
to innovate and seek solutions to specific clients’ requirements. We lay well-known
patterns used in the fitting of parquet wood flooring. These include Versailles,
Herringbone, Chevron and Basket-weave, create individual patterns, and work with
clients to design floors that combine wood with leather, carpet, steel and glass.
We have long-term relationships with several European hardwood and ancillary suppliers
to ensure delivery of the most suitable products in a short lead time. All of
our suppliers comply with EU guidelines for sustainability. The timber is FSC-certified.
The installation process is explained on three levels: (1) an overview of the
entire process; (2) a case study of the Museum of Garden History; and (3) fitting
details of areas that require special attention. All Walking on Wood designers,
fitters and finishers are trained according to company standards. We guarantee
every installation and the actual products are generally guaranteed for up to
ten years from the timber supplier. We select the best possible partners to ensure
that our parquet wood flooring co-exist with sound-proofing systems, under-floor
heating and new concrete floors. Walking on Wood installs Accorub for impact sound
proofing, tested by Salford University and recommended by specialist sound engineers
who have been able to overrule existing leases against wooden floors. Our engineered
floors (available in the majority of the timber collection and patterns) are specially
designed for under-floor heating. Designed in conjunction with JUPITER Heating
Systems Ltd, the floors won’t leave gaps, cup or warp when installed. To enable
the wooden floor to be fitted over a new concrete sub-floor quickly, Walking on
Wood uses especially effective damp proofing membranes. We suggest easy-to-use
maintenance products for oiled or varnished floors to preserve the quality of
