MAINTENANCE & CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR OILED FLOORS
TRIP TRAP SOAP FOR WOODEN FLOORS (weekly/ daily)
Daily cleaning should be done using dry methods such as vacuum cleaning. Where
necessary the floor can be wiped using a mop
or a well-wrung out floor cloth. The floor must not receive excessive moisture.
The best cleaning results are achieved using Trip Trap Soap. If you use any
other cleaning agent make sure that it is pH-neutral (max pH 8). Unnecessary
cleaning, using damp methods causes more damage than good. This applies particularly
during the first weeks after maintenance. The frequency of damp cleaning depends
on the use and how dirty the floor gets. Regular cleaning of the floor prevents
dirt sticking to the oiled surface.
Remove marks as soon as possible using water and Trip Trap Soap or other neutral cleaning agent. If this does not help the mark can be removed using a green nylon pad such as Scotch-Brite. After removing the mark, if necessary, apply a small amount of new oil (available from our Warehouse), before new Trip Trap Maintenance Oil is applied.
Instructions for use:
- Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
- For daily cleaning, pour 250ml Trip Trap soap into 10 litres of warm water and wash with a small quantity of water. It is recommended to work with two buckets, one with soap solution and one with clear water for rinsing the cloth/mop. Never leave any water on the surface.
- If the surface is heavily soiled, leave the soap solution on the floor for 5 minutes, and remove the dirty water from the surface. Rinse the cloth or mop in the clear water before continuing.
- With each wash, the surface will be more resistant to dirt and stains.
- Should any heavy dirt and stains remain after the soap wash, use Trip Trap Intensive Wood Cleaner.
TRIP TRAP MAINTENANCE OIL (yearly/ every six months)
Maintenance Oil in natural or colour is used in connection with all oil treated surfaces. The Trip Trap Maintenance oil is used at regular intervals depending on the wear but typical once a year in private homes and once every month in areas such as shops. Maintenance oil makes the floor more resistant and easier to clean. The oil maintains the beautiful structure of wood. The Maintenance oil may be used on all oiled wood floors.
Instructions for use:
- The floor is cleaned with Intensive Wood Cleaner and left to dry for 4-8 hours. The floor must be absolutely dry.
- The concentrated Maintenance oil is applied with an acid proof rubber scraper, scrubber pad or cotton cloth. For large areas, a polishing machine may be used. Ensure that the Maintenance oil is polished well into the floor. Polishing must continue until the wood is saturated with oil and the floor appears silky mat and all excess oil has been removed.
- If polishing machine has been used, the floor is ready for use immediately
after application. Has the oil been applied manually, the floor should be
left for four hours before use.
- After 24 hours the oil has hardened and before this time no water must reach the floor.
Cloths with oil must be burnt after use owing to the self ignition risk.
